I just got off the phone with the Toyota Materials Distribution group, 1-800-622-2033 about the 'shop manuals.' They said to call again in a week. Yes, I know paper is so "retro," but I prefer hardcopy shop manuals so I don't have to scrape the white-out off my screen.

Really it costs too much to print on my home printer and the local print services are not that much cheaper. I would just rather get the manuals and be done with it.

So, can you get them electronically now?

Honestly, I print the entries I need to use at the time. When I did the battery swap in my 2004, I printed the 3 pages from the 2004 RM (which was PDF at the time). My printer does duplex, I use economy mode to conserve ink, and grayscale to force the black cartridge only. I think for the few times I use it, this works well vs. paper which is continually revised.

I'm pretty sure that you could buy a one week subscription to TIS ($50) and a laser printer (~$100) for less than what Toyota will charge for the hardcopy version. Of course, you will have to figure your labor rate for downloading the PDF files.

gee bob, how much it cost?? or maybe i can skip that answer and tell you, get a laser printer.

B/W ones are dirt dirt dirt cheap. cost to print really is just beyond the cost of the paper. i have a small samsung, bought it 5 years ago, only use it for printing documents (also have color laser for the "good" stuff) and its still on its original cartridge.

now i have not printed the encylcopedia or nothing like that, but the manual for my TV f9or example was about 100 pages... but then again, who knows? i might be 2 pages away from empty.

i do take the cartridge out once every 6 months or so and give it a good shake and last time (as far as i remember) it still seemed to have something in it

I paid $10 for 24 hours of online access--don't think they have hard copy.

I bought the complete set of hardcopy manuals for my 08 Prius. Cost over 400.00.
Wish I knew about techinfo.toyota.com then!

They've updated the pricing for $15 for 2 days. BTW, it's usually 48 hours from the day after you sign up. I.e. if I sign up at 5pm Tuesday, I'll have access through 11:59pm Thursday Pacific Time.

Has anyone recently signed up on a Friday, to see whether the weekend is counted in the two-day period or not? In the past the weekend was not clocked so a one-day subscription turned into three days.
