Been enjoying my Prius issue-free for 3 years and I am starting hear this strange noise that is coming from the brake pedal or perhaps inside the engine bay.

I definitely hear it all the time when I have to come to a stop from existing the freeway. I wouldn't say slamming on the breaks until the ABS or traction light comes on but more like 40 to 0 pretty aggressively.

My brake pedal would travel in and then when it reaches that wall or thresh point, I would hear this "sheesh" perhaps a high-pitch clunk noise from the brake pedal. Not sure if I can accurately describe the sound. It's definitely not from the calipers, pads or rotors. I can feel that it's from the pedal.

I will try to make a video if I can. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like it might be the brake actuator, do any dash lights come?

I found out that even firmly pressing down the brake pedal makes this noise sometimes. :(

Yep, our 2011 does it too. There was a recall on Gen 2 brake actuators, but none for the 2010+ Gen 3.

Do you think it's okay to leave it as is then? I've been braking less aggressively lately.

I suppose, as long as it's not throwing any error codes or illuminating the check engine light. Ours does it sporadically, and it is difficult to reproduce for the service manager, service technicians/mechanics.
