Halo headlights may also be called "angel eyes" or similar. In any event, I'd like to add this effect to my gen 2 to update the look.

Elsewhere on the forum, I've seen examples of others doing similar, but nothing in more than a year. Maybe I am searching wrong, but I can't find anything on Amazon, either.

To be frank, I'm uncertain if this is the sort of thing that is added onto my existing headlights, requires a bulb replacement, or even a retrofitting of the entire assembly. Also, if it helpful, I replaced the factory HID's with LED's

Thanks. What I got from their promo vid is that while whole assemblies can be used in order to simplify installation, the rings are available as "universal" kits at a lower cost and more complicated installation

I take back art of what I said. Full assemblies are available ONLY for halogen cars :: sigh ::

I'd argue that the "halo" look is kinda 2005. A diffuse light strip is probably better for a modern refresh look.

I did a retrofit on both my Gen2 with a switchback strip...but did a halo and switchback for another Gen2 owner up in Edmonton - it was almost too much.

60's kitchen range agrees with you.

You know, that backlit section actually looks a lot like the rectangular LED swatches that Audi are putting in the headlights now. (Also, add some lens flares and that kind of retrofuturist treatment looks like something out of a JJ Abrams Star Trek movie.)

    Here's a picture of the A8 headlight:

I don't think halos are bad, and quite a few manufacturers are still integrating them on their headlights, but I maintain that round halos do look kind of dated (example is from an e46):

I think part of it looking dated is the fact that there are a good number of badly maintained BMWs out there with halfway working/burned-out headlights and it just looks really bad.

@a_gray_prius that range panel lamp has a closer cousin in the e-golf:

Except that if it was kind of useless on a kitchen range it's unbelievably useless on the front of a VW.
If I got one I'd chop that wire before leaving the dealer, maybe eventually paint it over.

Like it or not, it's what 2019-modern vehicle styling looks like. I reiterate and maintain my argument that round halos look dated now.

I liked my switchback strip, it helps modernize a decade old vehicle. 2014-12-17.jpg 20141220_123841.jpg

Co ink a dinkle eee, I have a 2005, and there are no halos that came with it, but I feel the sentiment. I guess I like the halos because then it looks more like eyes in front, and you know how us humans love to anthropomorphize everything.

The switchback strip looks good, Justdidit, thanks for sharing.

Most new cars I see have more of an "outline" or even more frequently a "partial outline" with the LED strip. But which part to outline, if so :: rubs chin ponderingly ::

Looking at the 2020 models rolling out, it seems even the "outline" style is being phased out to be replaced by these newer "barely there" headlights.

    Maybe I'll get ahead of the trend by replacing my headlights with a pair of laser pointers and call it a day 8-}
