Had to use some torque to tighten my battery endcaps. Is that okay?

When I reassembled my battery today after reconditioning, there was an increase of 3/8 to 1/2" thickness. The Battery never heated up during reconditioning and it was in good condition.
The mistake I made was I didn't leave them in the Battery cage when I balanced them by tying the positive terminals and negative terminals together. I left them loose and unclamped.
I got the endcaps back in place by tightening the four nuts in a cris cross fashion like when you're installing a cylinder head.
I had to use some torque on each quarter turn. It wasn't a huge amount of leverage but it was a bit snug .
    Is this okay?

Sounds like you averted a disaster just in time.... Next step is to get whole pack fully clamped down once it's cold... If you're able to regain full rack compression all the modules will expand and contract through regular use and regain their normal shape. If they don't regain their normal shape it usually is more visible on the bottom of the pack than on the top.
