    Read about it here:

Interesing quote from Bob Lutz himself:

"A lot of us see it as the most interesting and most fascinating technical challenge of our whole careers. I mean, this car means more to me than anything else I’ve had anything to do with in the 42 years that I’ve been in the business."

Make of that what you will! ;)

It's amazing what a doubling of gas prices in three years will do to a businessman's perspective.

    I love this quote:
As Ed Bagley stated, "the electric vehicle is not for everyone; it will meet the needs of only 95% of the population."

I hope GM comes out with the Volt or something with great mass market appeal. More importantly, I hope it's available in every state in the US, priced within reach and sold in large quantities.

My favorite quote is from the CBS link:

"The Volt can run for 40 miles on a battery charge, which GM says is enough daily range for 82 percent of the population. "

In the same vein, my time machine can go from 1,000,000 BC to the year 9595.

Now, which little fact did both I and GM negliect to mention.
    :D

That explains why both GM and the most insistent of supporters absolutely refuse to call Volt a "series" hybrid, despite the term having been around for decades to describe that very type of system.

By using the newly coined term "electric vehicle with range-extender" instead, they hope to avoid being identified as having a complete attitude reversal.

DANG! Here I'm driving a Prius for the great MPG (and disappearing oil)...and I did not realize the real reason .....while the rest of the world did. Thanks Bob.

I know! I know! You both neglected to mention that the Volt and your time machine do not exist and never will.

The Volt may be important to Bob Lutz, and that makes him a useful spokesman for the corporation. But the criminals who run GM have no intention of ever building it.
