This will be my last post in Priuschat. Partly because my time is limited and PC can be quite time-consuming. Also, I am not really comfortable with posting to a forum that is "owned" by someone, censored by his appointees and used to generate profits from advertising and other means, though everyone else seems quite happy with this. I have never been "banned" or censored, but it is the principle I object to. I am active in some other online communities that are not for-profit and I will be focusing on these. For the most part, the people here have been friendly, well-meaning and intelligent and I wish you well. Good luck to Daniel on your diet, to Squid on your new job and to Hyosilver in British Columbia. Let's hope the next administration is a complete shift from the disaster that the past 8 years under Bush has been.

Did you know it costs money to run these forums? Google ads barely break even; it's not like they roll in hundred dollar bills every night. As for me, I'd rather see active moderators than active trolls any day.
Agreed, Stev0 - my fraternity website (and the attached popular message board) has only brought in $99.36 in 10 months of Google Ads. On the subject of banning and censoring, I think any online community by necessity has to do a little of that to help keep the trolls at bay. From my experience here, the mods have been pretty lenient in allowing freedom of speech, and i say they're doing a good job. regardless we'll miss you, jared.
Interesting. I have to cut down my PC browsing for exactly the opposite reason. I can't get the mods to ban an offensive graphic. Goes to show you can't please everybody. You've been a real joy here Jared and I'm sorry to see you go.
Very sorry to see you go, Jared. I am under the impression that PC is pretty close to non-profit, and I think the mods do a great job. I was once a member of an unmoderated totally-free-speech chat board, and while it was interesting and lively, it would not have been a suitable format for an automotive board. (It had really nasty extended flame wars, plenty of filthy language, some porno.) Advertising is the way media is mostly paid for in this country, and if you run an ad-blocker you don't get much of it. And if Danny makes a little money on PC (which I kind of doubt) he also puts a LOT of his time into the design and operation of it. I'd like to see him make some money for the service he provides us (a place to chat about the Prius and other stuff). Best of luck in your life's path.
Hmm. One last dig / final parting shot, at the administration (both PC and Bush). How easy it is to throw stones (at either group) . . . eh? One ought to try & keep their words soft and sweet as that makes 'em easier to chew, down the road. I've often been exhasperated at various administrations of differing views, but heck, it's not an easy job, even for the best of folks. Thanks administrators of all kinds, for not giving up, as the op seems to be doing. Have a nice time where ever you go, and don't let the door hit you in the rear.
Sorry to hear that you're leaving jared. I hope you reconsider- I've enjoyed reading your posts. I don't share your opinion of the administration (of PriusChat, I mean- I think that moderators do an outstanding job and don't begrudge Danny for whatever small profit he might make from advertising. I do agree with your opinion that the Bush administration has been a miserable failure.)
Sorry to see you go over what I see as a silly issue. The Internet is wide open, so this could be your chance to set up your own Prius forum that you can run as a charitable cause. Tom

I was one of them, and frankly, while it was for a silly word that I was banned (doofus), I was glad the mods did it because I needed to cool off for a while. Just my opinion. You'll be missed...
