is $899 for 17 inch persona rims a good price? Seller states Bridgestone tires are near new. These rims are also the lighter colored ones. I do like the darker rims more, so I'm Not sure if I should pick these up or just stick with my 15 inch rims.
Persona rims are Gunmetal color. Maybe you are looking at a set of wheels from a Prius five? Those are the lighter colored stainless kinda colored ones... Same rims, same size and weight but a different shade of paint...
Thanks for the info but I'm trying to figure out if these rims/tires are a good buy or not. I do like the gunmetal color much better.
Oh your welcome. Just wanted to point out that possibly the seller might be stating they are persona rims when they are not and don't want you to get deceived if you really wanted persona rims and the fella is selling Prius five rims instead. Any ways, not a bad deal I don't think at only $225 per corner including rims and tires... Tpms as well??
But also tons better handling.... They really make a huge difference for the better. Seriously!! Probably the biggest single improvement to handling that can be done to the Prius prior to getting all the braces, etc...
Did 2013 Persona's rim come in gun metal too? All pics I've seen for 2013 persona the wheels look like same color as prius 5
Oh jeez. If that's true then I'm totally wrong? But then again like I said the persona rims are the same as the five rims (2015's are gunmetal color, just informed above that 2013's could be the same as the fives...?)... I forgot about that year. Not sure. Maybe someone can enlighten us for certain.. Thx. But either way yes, good deal for rims and tires.....
ALL Persona wheels are the 17" five spoke wheel design like the Prius 5 wheels, except they're the gun metal gray. Four wheels and tires in good shape are well worth $899. Stiffer ride for 17" wheels are so slight, and you won't miss a slight reduction of fuel mileage on a Prius. I have the Persona wheels on my 2012 Prius Plug In and the positive change in appearance is dramatic. Money well spent.
Yours do look shinier than mine though I must admit? Almost like a brushed aluminum. I like it. Are they the same? I don't know...maybe the 2013's had a lighter shade of paint? Gunmetal colored touch up paint match mine almost perfect...
@ Blizzard_Persona, if yours is a 2015, my 2013 is more of a dark charcoal gunmetal finish. Toyota changed the color and finish on the 2015s. When I saw it, looked lighter and more suttle. They have a different finish for sure. Here's a closer look
With our (Canadian, with 17" rims) Touring model, in silver, the body touch-up paint blends perfectly when applied to the rims. I believe they're akin to the U.S. model 5 (aka V in 2010/11). The Persona rims have a slightly darker/redder hue. Very subjectively, I'd say the more silver rims are a bit more valuable, JUST because they come off a higher level model. But color aside: they're the same rim. They're heavy buggers, by the way. As far as claims about them being miraculous improvers of handling, I'm a bit incredulous: ours have Michelin Pilot tires, and every winter I swap them for 15" Michelin X-Ice on steel rims: notice little or no difference in feel, just cushier ride. To your question: price seems a little high. It IS a good deal, but there just seems to be a lot for sale lower, around $400~500, which is crazy cheap, for those rims WITH tires, as long as decent shape.
I always thought the 2013 persona pics I've seen look shinier than mine, kinda chrome like. The rims on my 2015 persona don't look remotely shiny, maybe they're dirty..lol
Aren't there some settings that are different in the 2013 OEM Persona suspension setup? Such as lowering/stiffening? Certainly the Persona handling/ride is much more responsive than the 2014 Model 2 we also have. Also, I am getting 2 to 3 better MPG in the Persona on the 17's over the 2014 on the 15's.
My 2013 Persona wheels are gunmetal. The handling of the 17 inchers is way superior to the handling of my previous 2010 15 inchers by the way. I always felt that with the 15" tires the car floated, swayed on the freeway. With the 17's the car tracks straight and solid.
My Persona handles the twisties better than the car it replaced, a 2014 Dodge Charger R/T Plus that was souped up a bit.... Seriously. Haha. Granted the Charger had well over 3 times the HP of the Prius. Lol. My 2013 Prius three had the stock 15's and when I went to buy my persona I was tossed up between a base two and the persona and on my extended test drive (solo) I drove them back to back and I hit the twisties a bit and all different types of roads. The 17's with out a doubt handle a LOT better. The 15's seem to feel like they roll under them selves when pushed hard in the turns. One could argue the 17's as a safety feature during emergency maneuvering is needed
