    Hi everyone,

I'm a new owner of a 2003 Prius. I own a web design business (www.conxis.com) and am trying to get ideas on what to do to the car so it will

    a) look great

    B) tell people about my company

    c) generate buzz

It's black, which will make lettering it easy. I've thought of painting and decaling, decaling only, etc. to it.

The last vehicle I had was a 2001 GMC Sonoma, also black. I was thinking then of putting a mouse hand cursor on the rear sides of the car with it pointing at the logo on the front doors. Am not sure about rear or front of car.

I've got a budget of $500 total, so pimping it up West Coast Customs style is not going to be reasonable. After all, I got a Prius to pay for :)

If anyone has ideas or photos that would give me some thoughts on what to do, I'd like to hear about them.

I am sure I will be posting in here a lot, asking questions about upgrading my standard options.

    Thanks!
    Chris J. Popp

p.s. I also own www.9412.com, an Internet Classic Rock station.

I recommend cut vinyl. Any sign company can do it for a reasonably small charge, and it won't destroy your car's paint. I've applied it to glass, painted drywall, computer cases, etc. and it always works well on those kinds of smooth surfaces.

Other than that, I suppose I'd just suggest to keep the signage simple yet recognizable. Your aforementioned suggestion would meet those criteria! Do you have a business slogan you could paste somewhere along the bottom edge of the sides, on the bumper, etc.?

Have you thought about (for the front doors) fairly large, removable magnetic signs, instead of covering that much of the car with decals/cut vinyl?

    I like cut vinyl, too.

There are two competitors in town that have well-decked out vehicles and I am afraid that if I just have magnetic signs I would not be percived in the same light as them but as a part-time shop. I moved to Rochester in Oct but have been doing design work since 94 when I was a beta tester for Netscape.

As far as a slogan or anything, it's "Professional Quality, Exceptional Results". I have also used the slogan "Does your website dot SUCK?"

Was also contemplating putting a "Use Firefox - www.getfirefox.com" on the rear with a firefox logo.

Post pictures when you do! I've been thinking to do the same.

One of my clients here in town does cut-vinyl signs. I'd recommend the cut vinyl: they go on easily and stick till you peel 'em off. Almost anything you can design in Adobe Illustrator or a similar program can be cut.

I'm still considering something for my silver Prius. Flames don't seem right...but lightning bolts might be more appropriate! I don't want to put my business name on the car (it's sort of on the license plate), but I'd like to have a little fun. And there are three other silver Prius in town.

So what is that? Cut vinyl? Paint? How much would something like that cost?

Would be cool to have different designs that you could put on your car for different occassions, like weddings, a night out on the town, etc. (Oh, wait a moment, that guy was laughed off of American Inventor. Nevermind.)

Well, without getting right up close to it I can't readily tell, but my guess is it is a "wrap" of sorts that covers the entire body of the car. Not the most expensive option, but it's up there, I'm sure.

You'll often see a full-body wrap applied to various advertising-laden transit vehicles like busses. Some motorsports teams also use them. I haven't really ever looked into the idea of wrapping a whole car, so now you know everything I do about it. :)

Have you seen the Prii that Toyota donated to Yellowstone National Park! Very nice. I will see if there is a picture floating around on the web.
