I know I was already excited in anticipation of whenever my new car ends up arriving, but today at work I got some good news that adds to it. Apparently my work (a private university) is partnering with the local power company to install 50 plugin stations on campus for use with plugin vehicles. I'm really hoping this means that I'll be able to charge while at work at least until plugins become overwhelmingly more popular and I have to share. I've seen a few leafs on campus, as well as the occasional tesla roadster, so this should be a nice step forward for our campus community.
Lol, the cool thing actually is that apparently the local power company is installing them free of charge. I'm not sure if the stations themselves will charge to use, but either way it's neat news!
City of Woodstock (GA) installed one between the tequila bar and restaurant at old train depot. It does show up on CarStations app, which is kinda cool.
I'm working with my company to a) get the 4 existing old style paddle chargers on campus upgraded, and b) more chargers installed in front of more buildings. I've started putting flyers on the Leaf and Volt cars I see to get them to send e-mail to managment asking for new & more chargers.
Matt, that's great! We of course are installing some here for both service clients and my own clients to stop and re-charge! Since we have a nice big lounge and free wifi downstairs in the large areas with private type groupings, I can see folks stopping to plug in and work on their laptops/iPads. Heck, come take a nap on my leather office sofa. (no snoring permitted)...
I got spoiled with the carpool lane in CA and looking forward to "re-entry". Also a plus will be the close in recharge parking spots while I'm doing business in downtown LA. My prius #3 has over 164k miles and hope to get similar use on #4. Dedicated electric lines already installed at home and work. Excitement builds.
