I am interested in the opinions of people who consider themselves German. Were you ever excited about having a German Pope. Has your opinion changed during his administration?

While only my mother's father was actually born in Germany, I'm more than 25% German.

The Pope is trying to reestablish unquestioned authority of religious leaders by reintroducing things like the Latin Mass. Next I expect excommunications for minor offenses to pick up. Until there's a mass exodus of The Faithful in response, I expect The Dark Ages to continue to creep back in...

My Mom is full-blooded German; I go visit Germany every couple of years or so. However, I love what the Pope is doing for the Catholic Church much the same way I love what George W. is doing for the Republican Party.

I'm half Italian and half German.

My Father is Catholic and hasn't gone to church or taken communion since he married my Mother.

My Mother is Lutheran, I was raised Lutheran and remain Lutheran.

However my Father assured us that when *he* gets to heaven he'll put in a good word for us.

my dad is part of the first generation of his family that did not learn german as a first language. my mom is about half german.

me, i don't care where he is from... i disagree with what he's doing. he's increasing the gap between the catholic church and well, real life for most people- it was far out enough as it was. and yes, i was catholic for most of my childhood.
