Has anyone on here ever swap a Prius engine or know a mechanic or mechanic shop that has done it. Around the Bay Area ?

I'm wondering - would it be better to just get a GEN4 - it's so much better as a car to drive than a GEN3.

Another link, a series of videos, 4th gen into a Prius v:

Swapping in a Gen 4 Prius' 2ZR Engine into the Prius v | PriusChat

The First Transplant, the thread escapes me, it was by @cnc97 I'm 99% sure. And being the first person to do this (probably in the world), that's something. Maybe someone can post a link.

BTW, maybe this should be in 3rd gen maintenance, kind of a fish out of water? OP can report and request it be transferred.

Thinking of it, the entire engine compartment contents would likely to be needed - Engine, Inverter, Transaxle, 12v battery (different type) A/C, P/S, Catalytic Converter etc etc. Then there's the computer(s) and wiring loom - and I'm not sure about the battery, as it's not just in a different place, but it's a different specification.

I can't see that it is worth spending that on an old Gen 3. Easier to just buy a Gen 4, much better car.

But, I guess anything is possible, within reason.
