My Generation 3 has a DRL module installed by Canadian Tire here in Ontario. The module is made by Hamsar .
The problem I have is that every so often when I look out the building where I work I would see the bloody headlights on. I also timed it, it stays on for about 10 mins and goes off . Now I do not know how often this happens other than I have seen it a few times since I had the DRL module put it .

Would any one have any input at all on this ??? I could go back and make them undo the work saying that it is faulty .. but then they would probably want me to go to the dealer to have it redone (since it was a requirement to have the vehicle pass inspection to be registered in Canada) , which is $$$

It just sounds like the 12V source used is switched on from time to time to check temperature of the battery pack. The only good 12V source for DRL at the front of the car is a wire at pump at the washer bottle. It carries 12V when IGN is on. It stays on if you switch the ign off until you leave the car. Perfect for add-on DRL (i.e. real LED DRL) I used this for my car and it works great.

The installer tapped the wrong 12V wire for the DRL assembly. As stated above, you want a 12V source that is hot only when the Prius is powered up. The Prius is a smart little beast, and it does all sorts of tests and things even when powered off - it's never really off.

This was a faulty installation. Take it back and tell them to find a switched 12V source.
