    Hi all, HOW you doing?

I have found myself in a spot of bother with my 2007 Prius...

I am getting am Immediate P3190 error, & engine only runs (OR cranks) for 10 secs before stalling with the error...

I am uttelry gobsmacked, & dont know what to do...

I have already tryed changing the MAF sensor, & throttle body, BUT no Silver bullet fix...

    8-(

My HV battery starts dying, & I can only limit my tests before I have to charge my battery up again, which is painfall & time consuming procedure.

    Hi all, HOW you doing?

I have found myself in a spot of bother with my 2007 gen II Prius...

I am getting am Immediate Recurring P3190 error, & engine only runs (OR cranks) for 10 secs before stalling with this error...

I am utterly gobsmacked, & don't know what to do...

I have already tried changing the MAF sensor, & throttle body (with throttle plate & actuator), BUT no Silver bullet fix was applied...
Checked the oil level is well below the full mark, & there is approx 3-4 bars of fuel on the meter.

    8-(

My HV battery starts dying, & I can only limit my tests before I have to charge my battery up again, which is painful & time consuming procedure.

I have read a good few TSB's (suggesting re programming of ECU's) but they are for 2004-05 models, I wish mine has not any of these faults...
Could ANY of you PROS suggest anything for me to try?

    Thanks in advance...

The DTC'S for P3190 gives a long list of possibilities:
    - Intake system
    - Throttle body assembly
    - Fuel pressure
    - Engine
    - Mass air flow meter subassembly
    - Out of fuel
    - Engine coolant temperature sensor
    - Crankshaft position sensor
    - Camshaft position sensor
    - EGR valve assembly
    - ECM

Good luck. Hopefully someone like Patrick will give you some specifics to try.

I have heard about dodgy fuel pumps on the Prius.

How many miles on the odometer?
How much fuel in the fuel tank?
Can you smell unburnt gasoline in the exhaust after you have tried to start the engine? (If not, this would imply your fuel injectors are not injecting fuel.)
Have you confirmed that the spark plugs are firing? If not, remove one igniter and plug. Make sure the igniter wiring harness connector is attached securely, insert the plug into the igniter and ground the threaded shell of the plug to the engine. While you have someone try to start the car, see if the plug tip is sparking.

A no-start problem that comes out of nowhere is usually the result of no fuel or no ignition.

First thing I would check is fuel line pressure (is fuel pump running and fuses intact) do you smell fuel at the exhaust. Carefully open the fuel line to the injectors to check for pressure in the absents of a gauge.
    Second crank shaft sensor.

Maybe think of it like any ICE engine that won't start..

Is it possible you got bad gas? ie. water in gas? Has it rained.. Not sure if gen ii have the problem with water sitting on top of intake and soaking around the coil packs.

Spark plugs look ok? Coil packs working? I'm assuming the new throttle body came with new motor and throttle sensor. Have you tried spraying starting fluid (ether) into the air box?

It is better to drop a little fuel down the throttle body than use starting fluid.

In all my experience with cars that have trouble starting from fuel issues (including lawn mowers) I find this to not be true. You can easily tell when a car is running on starting fluid and confirm the engine runs perfectly fine, but just isn't getting fuel.

Hi Patrick, Your a star, An Angel in disguise... Thanks for your suggestions & post...

    around 116k on the clock...
around 3-4 bars on the fuel meter (I put in some extra with a boot canister)

No smell of fuel burnt or unburnt, LOL!!! Will Start to monitor Now
Will run the suggested test on any one of the spark plugs in around 20 mins..

I have seen starting fluid destroy a petrol engine it is really a product for tired diesel engines even low levels of compression will ignite it no spark required.

    Well right now, Anythings possible,

But I put some fresh fuel in just incase, (with my portable canister)
Coils packs look DRY, Seals intact, BUT I am NOW going to take out a spark plug & test spark As Patrick suggested..

I have not tried spraying Easy start either, Good idea Batman!

The throttle body was from my sisters car, & mines in her car working perfectly.. (with motor & sensor)

Try to start it once then pull the sparkplug to see if you smell any fuel.

If you don't smell fuel in the exhaust pipe, then maybe you should start checking the fuel pump fuse or relay (swap relay with identical one in relay box). But check the spark plug for a spark as mentioned (hard to see in direct sunlight, fyi

I have been trying to find fuel pressure on my usual obd scanner, & even on the torque app with seawolf & vincents database, nor having any luck...

Checked coils they are good to go, TRYED smelling fuel in the exhaust, Cand put my hand onnit.. either burnt or unburnt or even NONE?

Any idea of the top of your head which fuse or relay?

When you removed a spark plug, if you do not smell any fuel vapor coming up from the cylinder then it sounds like your engine's problem is lack of fuel.

Check the following fuses by using an ohmmeter: 7.5A IGN, 15A EFI, 15A AM2, 10A ETCS. Make the Prius READY and see if you can measure 12V on one side of the fuse holder, when the fuse is removed.

If the fuses are good and you have 12V present, then maybe the fuel pump relay (aka circuit opening relay) is at fault.

If you were working on a Classic Prius it would be easy to find the circuit opening relay in the fuse box near the inverter.

However, it's not easy to swap the circuit opening relay in 2G Prius because that relay is one of four in a rectangular box marked "Unit C". This is located in the main relay/fuse box near the inverter.

I suggest you go to the fuse box next to the inverter and look for two black rectangular boxes, one with fuses in it and one without. These boxes are next to each other. Each box has tabs at the end which lock it in place, push those tabs away from the box and pull the box out, do this with both boxes. Swap them with the other car and report back. One of those is the fuel pump relay which can go bad.
