The Toyota Prius is the 2024 World Car Design of the Year. The new-gen Prius beat the Ferrari Purosangue and Ford Bronco to the coveted design award. The 2024 World Car Awards winners were announced today at the New York International Auto Show 2024.

Might as well add this here, as I think it's a big deal, even more than the design awards. I'm all for the environment. Was the big reason why I got the 2010 3rd gen in the first place.

i can't wait to see first quarter sales, i hope they are able to build more

 

January and February numbers allegedly are already out, and they are more than last year. In fact, Feb numbers are 300+% higher than last year.

Toyota expected sales of 35k for 2024, but if they can boost inventory and sell at the Jan/Feb rate, then they might hit 60k...anything above 50k is great with me.

Remember that sales of sedans have not been going well because of SUVs, and Prius especially has not done well the last few years. 50k or 60k would be a MASSIVE improvement over the 30k sold in 2023.

I think Camrys are fairly stable, just like Corollas. Camry is in race as best selling model in USA, going against the pickups

 

There was not much competition there considering the other two nauseating finalists—Ferrari Purosangue and Ford Bronco.

Ah....so I guess that segment (sedans) are def being impacted by the rise of CUVs and SUVs, even with the most popular models.

 

In the design category, which appears to be determined by a popularity vote. It is no comment of performance or efficiency.

I find the Ferrari a beautiful hatchback from the photos. The Bronco actually shares some design cues from the Toyota Concept Cruiser EV that won an award in 2022.

The runners up for the EV segment were the Volvo EX30 and BMW i5. For the main title; the EX30 and BYD Seal.
