Further surge in gas prices expected

Wholesale gains are not yet fully reflected in pump prices

WASHINGTON - With the summer driving season still more than a month away, gasoline prices have already started their seasonal climb — jumping 15 percent in the past six weeks alone. And that’s just the price you’re paying at the pump. With wholesale prices rising even faster, it’s a safe bet that the surge in pump prices isn’t over, analysts say.

Mind you that gas prices always increase in the summer months not nomally over a dollar, but hey thats what greed does for ya. ;) :(

Has anyone ever noticed that gas prices seem cheaper in SC & GA.?

They had this woman on the news complaining about how much gas was costing as she was filling up her expedition.. she said she could afford to buy a more efficent vehicle because she had a large family.. LOL

Yeah, and this year it looks like the summertime price increase is going to be quite a bit more than it was even last year.

The guzzler drivers are barely going to be able to afford enough gas to set their vehicles on fire.

It's a great time to be an oil executive. They're smiling all the way to the bank.

Well. Good for them. Who is the suckers supporting them anyways?
    Oh, all of us....

I say... Do what Darrell did. Just give them the finger and commute in an EV.

Ok, where is my EV now? The only thing close to being able to buy right now is the Myers (Sparrow) EV. Can't wait until ACP starts their run.

It's higher here in Nor Cal. I saw premium at one place a few days ago at $3.15/gal.

I find it amazing that gas is almost approaching what it cost after Katrina. Back then, the media claimed it was adversely affecting the economy and people were suffering. Now, there are no such claims. People continue to drive their SUVs at 12 mpg levels i.e over 80mph. I love driving up to a pump and filling up at 3 pips. I take close to 6 gallons and the filling guy thinks there is something wrong as he can't get anymore in. LOVE IT!!

    Let's see,

    me: $3 times 8 gallons...under 25 bucks to fill...every 2 weeks.

that SUV beside me: $3 times 20 gallons...every week...

    yep, I am feeling smug.

Plus lower emissions than anything else on the road (okay darrelldd has us all beat, as do the cyclists).

The filling guy?!?!? Are you talking about one of those old fashioned places where people actually pump gas for you?? I didn't think any of those existed anymore. As with everything less service and more $$.

I am very happy to go sailing past the gas station. I also see some of those gas hogs driving slower. The cheapest gas here is just under 2.80, most is right at or over $3 by 5-10 cents. We are a corporate country and our government supports building the coffers of these companies and their upper executives at the cost of public.

Believe it or not, in a few states (new jersey comes to mind) it's unlawful to pump your own gas... thus full service stations do still exist... but only where they're required :p

Really nice for older folks and colder climates, always hated getting out of that warm car in Vermont to fill it up with gas.

The cheap stuff here in OC today is between $2.71 (Arco) and $2.89 (Chevron & Shell). Add $0.10 for the midrange gas and yet another $0.10 for the premium. And likely still going up...

I'm thinking about topping off the tank next week sometime before the prices go up some more. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday.

That was true of Oregon as well. I'm not 100% sure it's still true now.

Isn't it true that gas prices jump just before holiday weekends? Last night I could swear there were several jacked up pickups and Selfish Unsafe Vehicles going slower during my commute. I hate it when the SUVs slow me down in the HOV lane!

Great sense of humor in the SUV acronym (?). They do tend to slow down some in this climate unless mom and dad are paying for the gas. Our prices went up 9 cents in less than 4 hours yesterday. I am so very glad the Gas Guzzling Sport Trac has bitten the dust and the Prius is speeding along.

A low price here on the 45th parallel is now $2.999 US/ US gallon.

Regular is already available here at $3.09!

    Shades of things to come...

It really does not matter how costly it becomes for those folks who are riding high on the rapidly growing wealth disparity in the US. (Actually, I guess it does matter. For them it is really a good thing--the higher it goes, the more the profit grows. And the GDP grows with it.)

    Hallelujah!

And yet, it is still cheaper than a lot of the bottled water that people drink. Imagine that! Unfortunately, a heavy, air conditioned vehicle is a very, very thirsty beast. Such a steed must quaff quite large volumes of petroleum distillate if it is to keep on satisfying its keeper's desire to ride whenever and wherever the whim may take them.

But we just continue to fill 'er up because, like the beer commercial says, "We can!"

    For the time being...

ME TOO! Compensate for the price of a gallon of gas by investing in ETF: USO. I have gotten so I don't care what the price of gasoline is anymore. When oil goes up, so does my portfolio, so why worry? Vanguard also has a very good Energy Fund. Don't fight them, JOIN THEM.
