    Hello everyone

The other day i was going to go to the store so i did the usual. Hopped in the Prius and started it up. It ran for about 2 minutes then had a rough shudder shutdown with error warning popping. Currently it powers on but into the error state and nothing else turns "on" (motor or high pitch ele whine- norm prius sounds)

I have read several threads on the forums for the Prius Gen 2's and have checked a few things that i can without having actual tools. I have currently access to one of those FIXD readers but was wondering what Mr Guy Mann thinks or anyone else about that device. I didnt see it mentioned in the 1 thread about the readers.

I also found another thing out when checking fuses under the hood, I found a MIA/kia hose/plug. Any resources out there that might help me figure out where it goes and all that other lovely info? Perhaps someone might know cause they done a full tear down.

Yes i know, she is dirty AF but that what the desert does. I love this car and she has done me well. I hope i can repay it back to her.

    Steps i plan on doing/trying:

Gonna wait and see what you all think about that FIXD. (aint have anywhere to be,lol)
Go get an actual proper tool to read codes if above is EWW
    Address codes
    Address mia/kia hose
Address any other Prius bs that will arise
Enjoy either my car or new generator? lol

The FIXD device appears to only access OBD2 ECM functions - "generic" codes and data for the engine computer.

You need a more capable scantool that can communicate to all systems on your Gen2 Prius. This thread reviews several.

The Autel AP200 is a good choice for the price. (still available on amazon) It appears that it's being replaced by the AP2500 (AP2500E), which is a little more DIY but some fewer functions ?

That hose with the metal fitting on the end is there to bleed any trapped air out of the inverter cooling system. The bracket (part of the fitting) is normally secured to the inverter with a small 6mm bolt - possibly to the bolt hole you see at the top of the screen in your video.

What warning lights are on? What does the "battery gauge" show on the MFD?

Mr guy mann and there is a few other people on here. I would like to give you all a huge thank you and a hug or handshake depending on your preference.

The warning lights i get on the CM hud are : ALL lights and the red triangle. On the touch screen there's the hybrid (car with !) on the top left of the screen. There is no txt displayed like "add fuel" which would be displayed when low. I want to say it said "problem" but that was for 1 second. (one of my issues with the car, never enough display time) The battery shows 3 bars on the touch screen. Car shows 2 bars of gas.

I just know i started my car up and the engine did its normal routine of run for 2 min then turn off. The turn off of the ICE was rough (like motor mount missing shaking) and that is when it threw the red triangle then other hud showed car! pic. If i tried to start it after it would not even "ready". Would power up to show errors but nothing else would kick on nor would you hear stuff "powering" up or "discharging".

I have disconnected the 12v (yea a mistake cause i cleared codes without knowing Wth, i dont have a reader and mobility is limited for me) I can turn it on and power it up and such. No errors but i also do NOT let it fully start, IE : ice running to warm up. I do hear all the "power whining/discharging". I know i gotta do something, just not sure what step to take due to limited resources.*(+1000 to frustration)

That hose hanging down below the hybrid part of the car has me worried due to its flopping around by the fans and looked like it should be plugged in somewhere for the hybrid system to get fluids or remove them. I wasnt sure if it was the cause of my car throwing up the error it did and honestly it got me extremely worried. I drove the car from San Diego CA to FT Myers FL and pondered if that thing was flopping around doing damage.

    * All my stuff was stolen from a secure storage facility. Literally have only my car and clothes and laptop i had with me.(mentally not ok)

Is the Autel something you would recommend for a "novice"? Does it have its own app or which App would you suggest?

So my next steps i think i am going to take are:

Get an way to read codes once you actually start the car and let it do its thing fully.
Address whatever i can based on codes
Step back and take a moment to think it all out. ie: worth the repair or better to scrap/part car out. Cali already made it a "rollin loss"

Thank you all for your time and have a blessed day

The Autel device only works with their own app (and vice versa). It can take a bit to set up but is generally less fiddly than the bootleg versions of Techstream available on the web (Toyota's scantool).

You download the "basic" Autel app and create an Autel account with your email. Activate the device (links it to your account). Download the brand specific app module (Toyota). Connect the device to the car and pair it with your phone.

There isn't really any (budget) "novice" level scantool that is all system capable.
