Fuel Light (Sometimes come on)...

i'm not familiar with the c, but on mine, the last bar starts blinking and i get a beep at zero miles left. of course, there's still 2 gallons safety reserve on board.

 

My experience has been that the last bar doesn't blink until the Cruising Range hits 0 miles.

 

Cruising range doesn't always correlate to the last bar... unfortunately. I've had it beep at 15 miles remaining before. Then other times, I've had the last 1 mile of range continue of for almost 20 miles. I just trust that when it beeps I have ~1.5 miles remaining. So far that has been consistent.

 

My last bar only blinks and beeps when the cruising range hits "0".
Usually I fill up at 2 to 3 bars, no reason to chance it as far as I am coincidence.

 

Just a curiosity - but why do you continually run it so low on fuel?

 

I didn't know there was a beep or a blink, so this is good information. I try to fill up at 3 bars or minimum 2 bars because the distance between petrol stations can be 100 km or more where I live

 

I've only gotten down to a single bar on the fuel gauge once, but on my 2012 Prius C as soon as the second bar went out the last bar started blinking. I've never seen any other indication of low fuel. I drove perhaps 10km after that, stopping at the first gas station that I could.

IMHO anyone who doesn't make plans to refill at their first available opportunity once the gauge is down to that last bar, blinking or not, is just asking for trouble.
