    Curiosity is getting to me.

On many cars - not just Toyotas, I see a rectangular attachment to the license plate frame. It appears to have a sensor at each side, along the front.

Does anyone know what this is?

It's about 1-1/2" high and is long enough to attach to the license plate bolts.

I've never been able to catch up with an owner of one of these vehicles.

    Thanks.

If it's black, it's probably an external EZ-Pass device. If I had a good picture of the front of my car, I'd post it. But you might be able to see just a little bit of it in the pictures (click here) Rand took at our Nov 11 meet. Check the front of the black Prius ... the plate is blacked out, but a corner is just visible.

On a similar note, what is the circle on the driver's side front bumper?

That's the knockout plug for the emergency tow ring.

Machine gun port. .30 caliber is standard but .50 will fit. ;)

Can also be retrofitted with a plasma autorifle.

That would be my guess, I can go out and take a pic of mine if that would help.

I did go to the EZ pass sight, and found that it is a external ezpass device.

Apparently certain vehicles must use it because of metal in the windshield.

    Thanks to all who responded.

Well, I had the external tag because I had a Jeep Wrangler and there was no way to secure it inside the vehicle. I just decided to use it on the Prius as well.
