How important is it to get Genuine Toyota Parts for Brake Pads? I know that Bosh pads get really good ratings, but they are only about 15-20 dollars cheaper? Just stick with toyota? Also is it necessary to change anti-squeal and shim kit? I have a 2012 with 120000. Thanks for any input!
So in terms of the the shims and anti squeal detectors, they usually need replacement, or they usually can be reused, thx
I understand about the fact that the shims are usually glued on. What I am puzzled about is, why does Toyota a offer a shim kit for purchase if the shims would already be glued on to the new pads? Thx
I’ve reused shims (on past vehicles), but they do rust. With the Prius pad longevity, I’d replace them; they’re $10~20 for front or back set.
