Fuel cells are the future of automotive technology and always will be.

Electricity to generate hydrogen will always deliver 1/3d the miles of the same used to charge an EV battery. The alternate source, steam reformulated methane is just a back-door CO{2} and an emissions problem. Less bad than gasoline, the latest California data report suggests $2M for each hydrogen station.

I'd say both considering Ford's plans starting next year.

Researching non-hydrogen fuel cells is likely a good idea, but the ICE is showing it has plenty of life left.

Maybe the Oil industry (source of the least expensive {but still too expensive} way to reform hydrogen) isn't doling out enough lobby money for those companies. Hopefully Toyota too will see the light pretty soon.
