I just wonder if there's a better replacement antenna out there, to improve FM reception. I'm driving 2010 4. Bought the car with 25K, so far have wracked up about 6 K driving. Love it, but would like to improve the reception one level.

My megaladon mod has a 21” antenna in place for the factory Prius antenna. It’s one of those opposite & less desirable mods

Does the longer antenna improve reception?

You might want to take a look at the external antenna connection on top of the car. It unscrews (lefty-loosy) and there are captive notches in the rubber acting as a lock washer of sorts. If the connections aren't shiny and clean, then clean things up (including the socket on top of the car) and juice it up with some dielectric grease. If everything is in order topside, then maybe the other end of the cable into the control head (inside dashboard) is the problem.

I got a pretty good improvement by replacing the short stubby antenna mast with a 31 inch mast

31 inches is a bit long! I believe mine is 6 inches, but they make one that is 9 and I think 12.
    Thanks
