Flowers in your cup holders

Volkswagen shouldn't be the only car on the road with flowers on the dash.
Prius has four cup holders and it's unlikely that all four will be in use at the same time. So, to spruce up my semi-sterile, techy interior, I found a beautiful sapphire blue bottle about the size of a beer bottle, only teardrop shaped rather than straight sided. I used a square of soft packing foam about half an inch thick and about four inches on a side; laid it out over the cup holder and depressed the bottle into it. It holds the bottle snug.
Our local Fred Meyer has a good selection of silk flowers and I bought several different arrangements because I get tired of the same arrangement just like I get tired of the same CD. A silk rose, single stem, looks really cool as it protrudes just above the dash line and is visible from outside the car at driver's eye level. You can vary the arrangements as you wish.
The auto department at Fred Meyer had these little LED lights mounted under a small blue (or red) diamond shaped piece of plastic; when the light is on, the plastic radiates a soft blue or red light. I used a copper strap around the neck of the bottle and mounted one of these, and ran the plug into the storage/arm rest. I like the soft blue light which helps relieve the relatively dark interior in the absence of the truly spiffy dashboard lighting you find in cars with full instrument clusters.
The Prius seems as much a state of mind as a car.
