My car sat for three days in a parking lot while I was away. When cam back I noticed a flashing blue light coming from just below the steering wheel and above the brake pedal at the edge of the under part of the dash. When I entered the car, and started it, it went away. Can't find any info in the book. What was this light trying to tell me?

Did you buy a used or demo vehicle? if it was new, after 3/4 years you discover a blue flashing light?
It sounds like an aftermarket product or...a time bomb!!!:censored:
    Something smells fishy

What factory alarm system? I don't remember any such alarm in the factory brochure for my 2010, so it must have been installed later.

The only "flashing blues" I've ever seen have been those in my rear-view mirror (accompanied by a "wah! wah! wah! wah! wah! wah!) ;)

That's where they put the aftermarket alarm. I have one and there's a blue indicator light in the same position you describe.

I saw the lights you are talking about, just 3 days ago. Will cost me $$$ for +11mph. I should have told the officer Prius can not go fast, everyone knows that. Lesson learned.

Dealer installed, not Toyota installed. You have an alarm, but Toyota didn't put it there!

Yeah, it does suck when you are hyper miling through a 30 mph zone and happen to over shoot your target a little bit right about that time the radar catches you at 34. Cops here are fairly lenient, they usually give 10%, but don't speed through a school zone or use a cell phone either in that zone. Got nailed four years ago in my old Nissan truck. 44 in a 35 zone. Took defensive driving to keep it off my record. Never saw the cop, but he sure saw me...

Lessons learned can sometimes be hard and expensive.

As far as the OP's post concerning the blue light, I would venture to say it could be a fake led to make thieves think the car has a alarm on it. I see those quite often in cars and trucks around here. You can find those things in a lot of places. Real cheap and could be effective to help repel the average prankster.

That you had too many drinks on the plane maybe ?? :)

There IS a light on the dash that flashes indicating that the "security" system is enabled, whatever that might be on the various models but on my C it is not blue and I suspect that it is soldered to a circuit board such that it can't come loose and dangle down behind the dash.

Have you looked carefully after leaving it parked overnight after that incident ??

I'll have to talk to the dealer then, because when I asked about an alarm system, he said he could "enable" it for me. It was built into the car. So there's an after market one as well? HMMM? Have to look into this one. Thanks

That is your Global Warming Sensor. The car needs to sit in one place without moving for a while while it takes measurements. Blue means measurable, but you don't have to flee from that spot immediately. :)

There is no "factory" alarm system, but there's one that's a common port-installed accessory. That's almost certainly what you've got in your car. (There are, of course, many additional options besides the one Toyota installs, too.)

Does u horn think when u lock/unlock the doors?

If it does then u have a dealer installed alarm.

The Prius doesn't have a factory alarm, just keyless entry. When u asked ur sales rep to "enable" the security system, he was more than happy to do so at ur expense of ~$600. That is what the dealer charges u to keep that system.

The blue light looks like this?

    OP, what you have is a KARR aftermarket dealer installed alarm. It has a few more features than the OEM alarm;
    1) shatter sensors
    2) fuel rail disabler
    3) horn chips (enable-1, disable-2, body motion-multiple short chirps)
    4) valet mode
Some of the better KARR systems have a feature called TRACK (GPS) where you can follow where your vehicle is on a real-time map on a PC.
