Has anyone seen something like this before. I think it popped out while sitting in the garage. Recently took a trip up I-80 (very rough concrete) and we are also in a heat wave. No idea if either of these could have been a cause.
??????????????? You are kidding right? Assuming this is warranty - assembly etc. Someone bumped into your bumper.... duh.
That's easily snapped in place, but if it did separate on its own it's a good idea to let Toyota take care of it.
The bumper is pristine! I just went out and double checked it. I am very particular about where I park. If the bumper was hit hard enough to pop the panel there should be a mark, right? One thing did occur to me. When I take a friend golfing, we usually sit in the hatch area to change shoes. So could a little weight on the top of the bumper cause this? I would think the clips should be sturdy enough for this...
I bet that's what caused it. It's held on by screws at the top in a couple of places as shown: Between these, the "clips" are rather thin and can be easily separated with pressure. Don't sit in the hatch area anymore!
Ok cool. I just thought you should check as that is what caused my bumper cover to shift a bit. Dumbass people keep hitting my bumper while I'm parked.
had the same problem with mine. First the dealer said it was normal. So I asked him to walk with me to look at the others on the lot. None had it. So I asked him why he said it was normal when none of the other ones had this issue. I suggested that he check his lies before he tells them to people. I also said that his credibility and the credibility of the entire shop is in question and from now on I want proof if he uses that excuse again. I also got a hold of the service manager and told him of the BS line the advisor tried to use. I asked if this is the kind of service I can expect and if this is they type of business they run......all the wile out in front of waiting customers.

Just a quick update on this problem. Dealer looked at it today and fixed it under warranty. They found no signs of damage to the bumper cover. I did have a conversation with one of the Service Advisors. Apparently this happens a lot! If someone were to sit on the top of the cover or even a heavy piece of luggage rests on it then this could happen...Seems like a marginal design to me. However the dealer was good about it and fixed it with no hassle. (Roseville Toyota)
They also went over my bumper with a fine tooth comb looking for any damage so they wouldn't have to repair it. But after 2 visits they fixed it.
