I purchased my 2011 Prius 3 seven weeks ago and am on thrilled newbie. Our family is evolving into being more Eco focused and I was ready to replace my Land Rover. It took a few months mulling it over (a lot of help from creeping this forum) before taking the plunge, but now I couldn't be happier.

I went from 11 mpg to 60.2 (58.3 manually calculated) on my second tank at 1,000 miles.

I couldn't be happier. I was worried about not having all of the luxury features, but found the interactive driving experience offered by my zOri to more than make up. I describe it to my skeptical friends as being like driving a video game. Every moment is an opportunity to react to improve mileage.

Don't expect much of a response, but wanted to take the forum equivalent of screaming from the rooftop, "I love my Prius".

    Incredible, isn't it?
One thing I've realized after driving the Prius for three weeks now is- how wasteful it is to have a car engine idling for no purpose at traffic lights, intersections, stop-n-go congested roads, drive-thru's, etc. The Prius does it right by switching off the ICE till it's actually needed. Some traffic signals around here take several cycles to get past- most times the Prius can creep up using only the electric motor. I used to get aggravated waiting at red lights because I knew how wasteful it was- now I just wait for the Prius ICE to shut off and I sit back and enjoy the silence and fuel savings.
Last Sunday morning I was at a red light waiting to turn left and another Gen III Prius pulled up next to me in the adjacent lane- of course his ICE was off too. We were the only two cars at the intersection. You know what.. it was actually so quiet we heard birds singing! :D

It's even better when you're sitting at a train crossing. Very few people will ever turn their engines off, even though you might be sitting there for 5-10 minutes.

I've posted this in another thread, but it amazes me how crazy people drive. The jackrabbit starts, then stopping at the very next intersection. The quick pass, then hard on the brakes to make their turn. I feel like the tortois & the hare! haha!

I can definately relate to how entertaining and interactive it is to drive the Prius. Coming from a big diesel truck with enough power to pull trees out of the ground, I was worried about the Prius being boring, but it's really not.

Now I feel like I'm cheating every time I pass my old gas station!

It is amazing and I have changed the way I drive. My wife noticed that the lady time we were out and I was driving her minivan. I have been giving her tips ( they are not really very welcome :) ) to improve her mileage. We were running errands all day yesterday in the van and I improved her mileage from 14 mpg to 20 mpg just by driving it like I drive my Pri.
