I just completed my first long-distance trip, from Florida to New Jersey and back. 1100ish miles in each direction. It went pretty well!

I did not do any special driving techniques (besides just not lead-footing the gas pedal), and my wife was driving half the time (her first extended period driving the car). I also did not make any effort to get good gas like Chevron/Shell. So I'd say this is a good result!

I think the Florida -> NJ one is higher MPG because we were stuck in some exciting Washington DC traffic for awhile.

My only complaint is that I wish the gas tank was larger! I know, I know, that's what the normal Prius is for. I get another ~60 miles out of the tank than I did with my Scion tC (Well, when it hits one bar I get gas ASAP instead of running it down more). Of course the gas is $25 instead of $40, so there is that.

Considering that the Prius C highway mpg is 46, that's pretty good. The folks in the Prius C forum would be even more impressed.

Definitely not bad at all, considering you guys drove it like a 'normal' car w/o using any hypermiling techniques. It proves that the car gets its advertised EPA mileage figures with no 'extra' effort needed to attain it. As for the smallish gas tank, I guess it all really depends on each person's situation. My previous vehicle was a 2010 Toyota RAV4 with a 15.9 gal tank...I was able to squeeze roughly 300-350 mi out of it before I gassed up. With the Prius-c, I'm able to get over 500-530 mi on each tank if I press it until the last bar starts blinking. Most times I gas up when it's at 2 bars. So, even though the Prius-c has a much smaller tank than the RAV4, I can still drive more miles in the 'c' than with the RAV4 and fill up less often as well.

My saturn had a 12.2 gallon tank, but I usually filled it at 10.5 gallons and was able to get between 300 and 350. It's refreshing being able to fill up every 8 days instead of every 5. :)
