This is the second time I have tried using this. I set the finish time at 7am. I got home at 6pm with no EV left and 1/2 a traction battery showing. I plugged in and set my timer to finish at 7am. Both times I got an email at 5:30am stating that charging was finished. So, it it took 3 hours to charge, it started charging at 2:30am to try to finish by 7am? I don't get it.
A better choice is to set-up the timer to a "Start Time" that will end your charge by 6:30am. I did that and works well and I think its a better choice.
it really makes no sense since some here are reporting it starts about 3 hours before the set finish time.
I also only set the START time. I change it 3 times a day. For 5am to be ready by 8am, for 10am to have partial charge for Lunch and for 2pm for full charge to go home. Works fine.
Are your clocks (two of them that I have heard about on the advanced model) set correctly? I have the base model, so I don't get emails, but I have noticed that the "finish time" which I have set to 6:00 am, apparently allows three hours, regardless of the amount of charge left the previous evening. On occasion I have checked on it in the wee small hours of the morning when the little guy in the my avatar wakes me to let him go outside, and found the charging starting around 3:00 am. But it is usually done by shortly after 5 am, taking between two and two and a half hours to charge. This is also true if I charge without using the timer. I think the engineers erred on the outside when telling us it would take three hours to charge. I seem to remember that someone posted here about having to go into the particular screen to set the clock on the advanced model, so you might want to check on that setting to be sure it is set correctly and in the right time zone and daylight savings mode.
In the Advanced anyway, the dash clock (as used by the charge timer) is just a 24-hour clock. It doesn't know anything about the time zones or DST. The clock on the display unit is set from GPS, and knows about time zones and DST, but the two clocks are not connected.
