Found and bought a Blizzard white IV with Solar package for my wife. :D Question to this educated crowd: Toyota is offering a Platinum extended warranty 84 months/100k for $1200. Not sure if that's a good deal or not. I am not one for betting against myself but the car is full of technology, some pretty new and expensive to fix. My wife tends to keep cars awhile so I am torn a bit. Any input would be welcomed.
    Thanks,

Wait until your regular warranty is nearing an end to decide.
    You'll be fine until then.

You can wait to get it before the 3 yr 36k reg warranty expires if you want or get it now. It;s all up to you but you can get the same warranty here on the forum for $1055 from warrantyshack and it is the real Toyota warranty

Extended warranties are a form of insurance. In the general case they are never a good deal, as the insurer charges enough to pay for the warranty claims and make a good profit. Like any other insurance, you should consider it only for one of the two following reasons:

    1) Risk of catastrophic financial loss. If there is a risk of financial loss higher than you can sustain, or higher than you are willing to pay out of pocket, insurance may be a good idea.

    2) Peace of mind. Some people are willing to pay more money overall for the privilege of not worrying. This is a bit like staying at an all-inclusive resort: it may cost more than paying ala carte, but once the money is paid you don't have to think about it anymore. Sometimes it's worth it.

Any other reason for buying an extended warranty is false economy.

Price looks nice for 7 years. If you are going to stay within the 100,000 miles then you may consider it, Make sure it is Toyota warranty (not a dealer or any other party) and it is the platinum. Also check warranty sold thru this site.

In my case, I am doing about 18 - 20,000 miles a year therefore it will be expiring before the years are up. So I didnt get the extended warranty.

I will wait until I am around 30,000 miles and will decide then.
