I had the same question. I have the 2016 engine in 2012 Prius and my GPS (which was never great) hasn’t had a working map. It displays an area with no real detail and sort of moves along as one drives. It currently has me about 100 miles away off the coast of Santa Rosa Island. It’s always taken ages to start with choppy Bluetooth. Can I put in a 2016-2018 head unit to match the engine 9”or am I stuck with what’s in here because I don’t have the JDM serial number fit the engine. The swap process has been fine.. everything going okay otherwise.

Not to mix apples ands oranges but I also have a fault code (short circuit) in my ignition smart key protocol, which I’m guessing is more likely from the start button as the car it's from Copart,? rather than the “ECU” behind the glove compartment. It appears the Start switch is in stock at Rock Auto and reasonable, so this might be a diagnosis is possible therapy rather than debug if the odds are that it is the start switch cylinder?

I should have specified Prius V, for variety
