We have just had our red 08 long enough to do 1 fill up. Our mileage was 44.4 MPG calculated over 420 miles in suburban driving. Location was Oklahoma.

NOW my question: I think there is some one selling 7 year extended Prius warranties over the forum. The dealer sold my wife one by Millennium that I am planning on vacating next week, if it is possible. Any help with this would be great.

    Thank you.

Yes, PriusChat has arrangements with Troy Dietrich of WarrantyShack.com/Toyota of Greenfield, MA.

Troy sells the genuine Toyota Platinum Care Extended Warranty 7 years/100,000 miles for $990.

Troy also sells lesser versions of genuine Toyota warranties.

Note that you have up to 3 years/36,000 miles to elect to purchase the warranty.

Suggest you call Troy @ 413-772-0989, it's the best way to reach him. He is very gracious and easy to speak with. He sells the genuine Toyota extended warranty as opposed to the 3rd party one you have purchased and you won't find a better deal.

I believe you may cancel the warranty your wife purchased, without penalty, within 30 days from date of purchase.

    Enjoy your Prius!

If you search the forums, you'll find that a lot of people have bought extended warranties through WarrantyShack.com (Troy Dietrich at Toyota of Greenfield). Their pricing is hard to beat and Troy is a very pleasant person. I'd bet you can save yourself a couple hundred dollars if you can cancel your current one and pick up one from Troy. Best of luck.

    Yes (short answer)
But (long answer) DON'T worry about it! You do NOT have to buy the extended warranty (service contract) until your factory warranty is in the final throws of going out of existence . . . that's one month prior to expiration. Save your cash for something better until then. And welcome to PC !

We purchased the extended warranty from Troy a week after we picked up our new new 2008 Touring. Outstanding service and great price. My dealer laughed when I tried to negotiate the warranty anywhere near Troy's quote. He said it couldn't be done and see him after I tried. Well, I received the receipt paperwork from Troy 5 days after I gave him my CC number and the warranty book from Toyota 2 days after that.

Thanks everyone. Now I need to see how hard it is to get out of the Millennium warranty the dealer sold me.
