I'm interested in purchasing a Toyota extended platinum warranty 7/750000. Has anyone purchased it online from Bob Moran Acton in MA? If so, what has your experience in dealing with them.
The Toyota dealer that I purchased the Prius from warned me it might not be the real Toyota Manufacture extended platinum warranty.
I appreciate any information purchasing the warranty online from another state.

Use the link that firepa63 shows. It's a real Toyota warranty from Greenfield Toyota. Troy has been giving all of us a priuschat a good deal on these warranties from the beginning and as earned our business.

This has been covered in a million threads here.

You purchased a Toyota. The most reliable cars in the world. They do NOT need extended warranties.

Many 2010 owners here have over 50,000 miles with zero repairs. Again ZERO REPAIRS. Do not waste your money. It is a profit center for the dealer and Toyota and a complete loss of the owner.

I have 47,000 miles on mine with zero repairs.

My last Toyota car I purchased new and over 10 years I put 305,000 miles on it. Nothing that would be covered under warranty broke until I hit 200,000 miles and it was minor.

Great buying experience....cheapest I could find anywhere. I bought my warranty for piece of mind. It was worth to me. I hope I never have to use it!

It is odd that Prateria is a first time poster and he or she posts about an extended warranty. No one question about the new car.

I bet most people that fall for an extended warranty also get suckered into other BS items a dealer pushes at the end of the sale. Of course for peace of mind.

    Rust Proofing
    Teflon coated interior and exterior
    The clear braw
    Life insurance on the load
    Electromagnetic rust proofing
And the other 100 things the scumbag dealers try to sell.

I guess life is a learning process. Some have to learn the hard way.

Jeeze, judgeless, you stick to your crusade most resoundingly. :p I let the dealership "sucker" me into the purchase of a 7 year/75,000 mile warranty. With squeaky brakes at 6K miles, I don't regret it (yet). ;-)

I bought the 7/100k Platinum warranty shortly after purchasing my '04 new. It more than paid for itself when the MFD went on the fritz. Later, it paid off again when the inverter pump died. For $900.00, I think I got my money's worth!

Did it? From what I understand, refurb MFDs are ~$500. You also would've been refunded the cost of the inverter pump due to the recent limited service campaign, provided you filed a claim.

Weird. Our dealer had a special when we bought the extended warranty. Bumper to bumper 8y/100k miles.

    We got it.

I wasn't talked into it. I bought it knowing what kind of rip off it was and having read all about it on these forums.
So I'm 100% ok with my decision. That's the difference. It would suck to buy it on the dealer's terms.

In my mind is a list of foolish ways to lose/waste money. Extended warranties don't rank anywhere near.

Piece of Mind is always a good thing. And if you trade in the car and buy another you get a refund of the difference (Prorated of course). All in all - not such a bad thing.

yup I agree with Orange Crush. Troy can give us such good rate that it is stupid to not buy it. Two repairs will pay off the extended warranty.

I don't think the extended warranty will cover for squeeky brakes.

^Well, if there's a brake design problem that becomes more severe down the line, it should come in handy.

I looked over the Platinum VSA and it excludes quite a few things that are consumables or components that see daily wear and tear. This will not help with those. Such as brake linings, shoes and pads. The one thing im concerned about are all the electronic gadgetry in the car. In 8 years I think something will give up. Prius IV has a lot of gizmos that im not confident will last. The rubber buttons on the steering wheel, for example, I find the rubber boot to be rather too soft and think it will wear down. since it is not mentioned, I will use it to my heart's content and when it fails, take it in for repair. Also we have unlimited towing coverage. full 100% towing expenses reimbursed. at least our agreement says so.
