Experimental Hybrid Cars Get Up to 250 Mpg

    From the article:

    "Monrovia-based Energy CS has converted two Priuses to get up to 230 mpg by using powerful lithium ion batteries. It is forming a new company, EDrive Systems, that will convert hybrids to plug-ins for about $12,000 starting next year, company vice president Greg Hanssen said."


    Yesterday at Orange County Prius meeting Greg came over and showed his Plug in Prius car , as well as answered questions on the Clean Air Vehicle sticker ( he has a RAV 4 EV also) .

    I'm starting to get people asking me about that. It's great publicity for hybrids as far as I'm concerned. Of course, a few people ask why Toyota didn't do this and I have to give my talk about how important it is to remember that what makes the factory Prius so great (and all true hybrids, for that matter) is that they do not have to be plugged in.
