Exhaust manifold replacement shortcut?

At this very moment, I'm in the middle of an ambitious exhaust manifold replacement on my 2010 Prius. I have the seven nuts removed top-side, air/fuel sensor unplugged (plan to remove after the old manifold is out), and just the manifold bolt from the manifold stay. Now that the car is lifted, I'm about to remove the bolts and compression springs.

While I've read the "official" procedure, I'm hoping there's enough play in the exhaust system so I can move it back an inch or so. I reasoned that this would enable the manifold to go back (towards the rear) an inch, too, which, hopefully, will be enough to clear the studs and allow me to pull out the manifold from the top.

Am I dreaming that such a shortcut is possible? Has anyone attempted something like this?

    Than you so much!

    Cheers,
    Lida

That sounds like you could make that work If you can cock the manifold back to clear the studs on the flange on the side of the motor then you should be able to lift the manifold straight up and out I haven't personally tried this we only took the whole engine out of the car with the manifold the springs undone at the downpipe and heave ho
