The USB port on the Prime is kind of exposed and a normal sized thumbdrive is prone to get snagged or broken. I have been using the SanDisk Cruzer mini stick with a great deal of success. This stick basically blends in with the console and won't snag on anything.

It turns out that Amazon has it on sale today for roughly half price. 64Gb for $12.99. http://a.co/d/d8s1dSu

I loaded mine up with old time radio programs from archive.org and am currently listening to "Dimension X".

Note that the link above is a generic link. I don't make anything for you using it.

Yeah, those low profile mini USB memory sticks are great. I have been using for all of my USB memory needs including on my laptop and tablets.

For my PRIME I use 4 port USB hub with switch to change different USB media source. In addition to mini USB memory sticks mentioned above, I have an old ipod connected to it.

A switch? Never seen one like that. Can you post a link?

Not exactly this model, but very similar. You can switch between 4 different USB connected memory or ipod or something else. The head unit sometimes get confused, but in most part, you can switch on-a-fly without problem. Actually, I am wondering what happens to your non-switch 2 port hub, if you put two usb thumb drives? How does the head unit decide which one to connect?

brilliant. i have an old stick which 'sticks up' from the front bottom of my center console and is susceptible to breaking off, or worse, breaking the socket. thanks!

I've never used 2 usb thumb drives. I would think both would show up on the display so you could choose either one or the other. I think I read where the Prime usb port can only support a 2 port usb hub max.

I have a 32 as well. What's the size limitation? Have you tried formatting in FAT32?

I bought one of these and it works great. No problems with the Prime reading 64GB. I did not reformat the drive.
