Turbo Tax software has the form and automatic walk through.

AMT applies, so many will not qualify.

Thanks! AMT will reduce federal EVSE charger tax rebate. Will AMT also reduce $4500 EV rebate? In expensive living cost city almost need AMT level income to have nice quality living.

The federal EV tax credit is exempt from the AMT and can be fully applied against it. In fact, if one has enough income to be subject to the AMT, then all of the federal EV tax credit can be claimed.

Just summarizing, the tax credit on the car itself is not voided by AMT. The tax credit on home charging stations is subject to AMT. Fortunately for me, my electric utility is offering a $500 rebate on Level 2 home charging stations, and this is not subject to all the tax credit rules.

Hey neighbor, just noticed that you live in Roseville.

A bit jealous here with the Roseville Electric L2 charging station rebate:D. Sounds like the CPUC let the utilities decide how to distribute rebate money.

Here in PG&E land we also get $500, also not subject to AMT, but instead it is per plug-in vehicle (bought or leased regardless of new or existing). We have two L2 charging stations and two plug-in vehicles, so pocketed $1000 on account of the vehicles.

Looks like Roseville also rebates $300 for a new plug-in and $50 for a used or existing plug-in. Nice.

PG&E $500 rebate for EVSE? How, where? The federal EVSE tax credit stopped in 2016.

We aren't talking about a tax credit. We are talking about an electric utility company rebate.

Already got my $300 car rebate; waiting for $500 charging station rebate.

Just to clarify things, some cities in California, such as mine, operate their own electric utility. The rates are typically lower than areas served by the big private utility company, which is Pacific Gas & Electricity in our area. Our rates are $26 + $0.093/kwh for the first 500 kwh and $0.144/kwh thereafter. To get the rebate,we had to fill out a survey, and one of the questions was whether we would consider a time-of-day plan for EV owners.

Right. PG&E gives their electricity customers $500 for every plug in vehicle in their possession. Can be used once per vehicle and does not matter whether new or used or purchased or leased.

Yeah, that rebate is for the car. It's not an EVSE rebate. There is a PG&E EVSE rebate on a particular Chargepoint charger where you have to enroll in a submetering program. I'm not aware of any other PG&E rebates.

Huh? Reread the subject of this thread, "EVSE charger federal tax rebate." This was a tax credit and it expired in 2016.

There had been some topic drift; it had wandered to electric utility company rebates for EVSEs. Sorry about that.
