Two months ago, there was an announcement to install 3,000 charging stations in NY state. I am in contact with someone in the mayor's office and I was informed that the contracts would be signed in a couple of months and the chargers to be installed by this Fall. I asked specifically about the Flushing municipal parking lot because I eat out there a lot. If the price of the charge is reasonable, which may include the parking fee, it would definitely be a plus for the ownership of PiP.
Great work! Hopefully they give you free parking if you are PHEV and you just have to pay for the charge. I know what a pain it is to park in Flushing . I am finding less and less free charging stations (not in downtown areas) and it doesn't make financial sense to pay for a charge at $1 per hour when filling it with gas is cheaper.
I can't understand the reason of WHY the eastern sea board is in such of lack of interest and support from our communities, beginning with the DC metro government. As an exception, my little community of North Babylon has a free of charge 2 L2 Charge Point EVSE in front of a Town Public Pool since the last 2 years; by the Town's Utilities Office another 3 more (for their vehicles) and by the City Town Hall another 5 pieces ( 3 miles away).
