The Equinox? Yes. The Bolt shares the platform with the Trax, which a smaller class.

The platform is part of the reason for the Bolt's demise. GM's EVs are now being built on a dedicated EV platform, and are using the Ultium suite of batteries and motors. Which the Bolt isn't.

Maybe the Bolt won't be cancelled. The next gen could be built on an EV platform. I'd like to see more smaller, commuter type EVs available.

The Bolt just needs faster charging and it would be almost ideal. As it is, it needs a patient driver for a long road trip. In my two days so far with the Bolt, I've driven over 100 miles and, other than a few minor "Why'd they do THAT?" moments, I've been loving it.

But that Equinox sure looks cool.

EV would fix the biggest thing wrong with the Equinox- the transmission.

I recently had the weird experience of taking an rideshare ride in an Equinox to a Hertz rental which gave me an Equinox. A week later I turned that car in and took an Uber home- in a third Equinox.

Both of the rideshare ones were bucking and jerking like they were missing an entire gear. The rental didn't do that, but it did have a sloppy upshift or two. Just weird being able to see and feel ~70k miles difference in essentially identical vehicles back to back to back like that.

makes you wonder how companies who perfected the automatic transmission decades ago could make such a mess of things.
i had the same problem with a 2001 taurus

To be fair, they all perfected 3-speed automatics in the 1950s and then sat on them through the early '90s. When fuel economy demanded 4-5-6....10 speeds, they all started over with some fairly predictable fails.

The 6-speed auto in our Mazda feels grand... but still not as good as the Prius, and a full EV would be better still.

There are several Youtube videos reporting that Equinoxes have been seen coming off the assembly line in Mexico. Some say by the hundreds.

From what I've been reading, the base model won't show up till early next year, so you have to wait a while for that one if that's what you want. I would expect all trims to be in high demand and short supply for a while at least. Also, the Bolt is a little more compact than the Equinox, so that might be a factor for some people. Obviously, the Equinox will be a better road tripper, but I see that as it's biggest advantage over the Bolt. Even so, we took our Bolt to Michigan last November and Ohio this June. We plan to take it to Arizona in October. It takes a little longer to charge, but we're glad for the breaks at our age.

Keep in mind that, of all the Chevy's, only the Corvette has better satisfaction and more customer enthusiasm than the Bolt. That's why they decided to bring it back. If I was going to wait, I'd wait for the Ultium Bolt (Boltium?) when it comes out, probably in late 2025 by my estimate.

That Bolt is a great vehicle and very popular. We see many Bolts in our area.

You mention they are not going to discontinued it which should serve as a reminder to people that the Customer demand drives the market and Car Company decisions.

Chevy has put together some exciting vehicles by listening to their Customers and paying attention to Customer preferences.

Where they all the same engine? The 2.0L had a 9 speed that was around for about a decade less than the base 6 speed.

Fair question. I have a hard time telling one GM product from another, let alone trims within one model.

The only thing I spotted different was that one of the rideshare ones had an electric liftgate but the second and the one I rented were both manual.

i have been hoping for something a little more prius size in the hatch footprint.
that said, equinox may be too large for me, i haven't seen one.
by the time i'm ready to retire the bolt, there will hopefully be more options and more inventory.
