Engine Revs up abnormally

    My 2012 prius C engine suddenly started reving up even after taking my foot off the peddle and it doesnt go back in to EV mode at lower speeds as usual ...it is something wrong with the senses ??
    Do i need to my car to the dealership ?...is there a remedy ????

    Is it cold? Is the battery letter closer to zero? Cold starts?

    Check the vent in the back seat. Usually this vent being clogged is the culprit.

    This is the reason but I don't understand why. I had a back pack on the floor next to the vent that was causing it to not breath very well and doing the weird reving after letting off the peddle. Moving the bag and letting it cool down made it stop.

    Also happened one other time when I could hear the battery fan blowing loud. I think it was just super hot that day and needed to cool off.

    Yep. This is a known cause and is in the owners manual. Not only that, but I mentioned it as my first suggestion in this thread. Glad it helped you.
