Energy Monitor Question

    HI. newer prius owner. Why does the Battery Indicator light sometimes (not sure when) turn a funny shade of lemon/lime vs. the normal blue???

    It's giving you a more noticeable visual indication that the battery is reaching maximum capacity. If you're running very low, it will turn red.

    That means the main battery is fully charged. It is a good thing. :)

    almost fully charged, derk. Keep in mind that the battery meter (indicator as the OP says) isn't not the true battery SOC (state of charge). IOW, if it shows 0 bars (which you'll never get), it's still does have 40% SOC left.

    I don't know about earlier models, but on my 2007 #5 it shows purple when its down to two bars. I think they wanted to avoid red because it makes it look like something is "wrong".

    Well it's not bright red, but it's pretty much the closest the poor quality screen can come to producing a red.

    Not true, the MFD can show a really nice red. You can see it in the diagnostic mode.
