Electric Dump Truck Produces More Energy Than It Uses | Hackaday

This fully electric dump truck doesn't consume any electricity...but actually generates more than it uses.

The mine is located uphill. So it goes up empty and comes back down fully loaded.
The regen exceeds what is uses to go up hill.

interesting, and makes sense. i wonder if most quarries are uphill?

if i lived at the bottom of a hill, and worked at the top, would my energy be free if i filled my car with gold bars every night?

I think most of those sorts of massive trucks haul loads out of open pits, i.e. going the opposite direction.

    Yes, this is true.
But the story was about a quarry in Switzerland that was uphill from the location where they process the material.

I heard about this elsewhere and googled to find the link.
Supposed they charged this dump truck once from the grid, they put it in service.
Then they started using it and it makes about 20 runs per day.
They have to dump power from its batteries back to the grid everyday (must have been designed for this...V2G)

A big dump truck providing power will just lower demand for the coal more.

If you could grab all those gold bars, why would you care about the price of energy???;)
