East Coast w/ Solar.. Important Question!

No offense to you, but geez there a lot of the same threads...Solar roofs in the NE are really hard to come by right now. In fact, everywhere but in Souther Cal (land of Dianne Whitmire).

 

Yeah, you know its a lie. Plenty of threads here to confirm that. In fact, Maggie May purchased one a few weeks ago in MD. LoraJ is waiting on hers to come in and shes in NJ too. They are out there but hard to find.

 

We took delivery on a Blizzard Pearl III with the Solar Roof/Nav early last month. Dealer was Charlies' Toyota in Augusta, Maine. We are enjoying it immensely.

 

If you are a serius buyer (read: already have financing in order and no drama) express that to the manager so that they can be more proactive in finding a SR car for you and swapping. If I was at a car dealer, I would follow Dianne's example and be a go-getter, unfortunately you might have to push your dealer to be that way. The way of doing that is making them know you are serious and willing to travel/call other dealers to get what you want.

 

Not easy to find - but they are definitely being sold on the east coast. There are several of us in the Northeast with sunroofs. Start calling other dealers. This one can not be trusted.

 

Mine is just the NAV though.

I got a PM from someone a week or so ago that got a NAV w/Solar in the area. I would never recommend that dealer though. I hate them with a passion.

Try Conicelli in PA not too far over the border. They seem to have one listed on their inventory. Although they also have III's w/NAV and when I contacted them they said they did not have any in stock and tried to sell me the IV, which is when I decided to buy local.

 

I too got one on the east coast, a bunch recently came into Boston, there were 5 total on the truck that came in with mine

It sucks that it might hinder your relation with that dealer. My experiences with dealers is that they have so much turnover that I just see them as buildings (unfortunately). If you have a crappy person one year, a few years later they will be gone and likewise with good people. I have no loyalty to the dealer but rather to the sales person that treats me right. I would highly suggest (like I told Lora) to cast your net wide because if I was still waiting on my local dealer to find the car I wanted (less rare than yours btw), I would STILL be waiting.

 

I bought my Silver IV w/SR + Nav at
Hudson Toyota, Jersey City, NJ on 7/1.
It really was a fluke!
Seems they had a large contract for these for
Zipcar, for 25 identical units, but they only took 20.
I had 5 IDENTICAL units to select from.
Call and ask for Ed...GOOD LUCK!
There are not many of these around.

 

There appears to be something going on with Solar Roofs. I was on the Toyota website earlier today, looking at Prius configurations and accessories. The button indicating Solar Roof availability by model indicated the Solar Roof Package was not available on any model. There was no 'circle O' or 'circle P' option or package indicator under any model. --TK

 

Have had my IV SR since 6/22. Got it at New Holland Toyota, New Holland. PA. Love, love it, love it!
