Driver side rear panel and wheel side swiped. Braking no longer as smooth

A Subaru side swiped my driver side rear panel and likely rear wheel/tire. The panel popped off a bit and the other vehicle left some scratches.

What I am more concerned about is the drivability of the car post-accident. It is hard to know for sure but braking does not seem as smooth. I am using Michelin X-Ice snow tires so maybe I am just forgetting that snow tires handle a bit differently than my regular stock tires.

I was able to compare my car to other 2022 Priuses, since I am a member of a car share program that uses them and many of them seem snappier and have much smoother braking. It's hard to describe but the car feels heavier and the braking seems louder at times and doesn't comfortably come to a complete stop.

I have since had body work on the car and went to a shop that the dealer recommended. They said the wheel alignment was fine. They fixed the panel and the panel is no longer flush with the tail lights, clearly they rushed the job. They didn't bother replacing the panel and I probably should have insisted that they replace it.

I kind of wish that I waited and took it to a certified Toyota body shop. Oh well, next time.

I was loving this Prius and now it feels a bit more mediocre...

 

Thanks for the tip. I am probably at least a 30 minute drive away but I will consider making an appointment.

I examined a few car share Priuses. They use all season tires (General Tire Altimax RT45 and Dunlop Ensaves) rather than snow tires and maybe that is why they handle a bit better than my snows. It's hard to remember for sure but I will look at taking the car to another shop to have everything evaluated. Darn, I really should have taken it to a certified Toyota shop. The dealer recommended this other outfit...
