So my beloved 2007 Prius with original battery has finally shown the dreaded hybrid battery failure code after serving 265,000 miles. Unfortunately, it happened when I was 4 hours away from home in another city. I didn't try to drive it after that, I just left it there. Has anyone tried to drive it for any length of time after battery failure. Will it make it back to my house?
You can use Dr. Prius app to read and clear error codes and safely drive the car home by continuing to clear error codes. Just keep your eye on the three battery temperature numbers and if they get too hot, like above 110' then you should probably stop driving if you plan to rebuild rather than replace the pack.
Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Some people keep clearing the codes and keep driving for weeks. Some get the RTOD and can't start the car. I would drive it- keep the speeds down. But have a plan B ready just in case. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
That be a good one to rebuild, the best rebuilds come from batteries not driven too long after P0A80 Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
