Met up with a local Toyota tech/friend (toyotechwv) who I met through Priuschat, at our local 1/8th drag strip on Friday night. He sent me a PM stating he was going to do some bracket racing and invited me to go. He ended up doing 5 fives with times ranging from 11.27 to 11.8:eek:. For those who want to know, he did force charge to green in between runs and prop the hood open to allow the inverter to cool down. Here are some vids and pics from that night. :)

LOL!! What fun. At least the challengers got a few easy wins.

    I don't understand.

If it's bracket racing, shouldn't the slower car get the green light sooner? Isn't the purpose of bracket racing to allow all autos to compete via this handicapping?

Perhaps those were just trial runs in order to pick a good time for the 1/8th mile?

    Cool vids.

Correct, first three runs were time trials, the last two were the only actual bracket races (srt4 & kia).

I would love to see what a plug in Prius could do. If I had the time I would go to my local drag and give it a try.

Thank God he at least took the Trim Rings off the wheels.
It completely explains some of those awesome run times!!!

Funny you say that, I'm actually seriously considering swapping a regular 1nz from a Yaris,Echo, etc with some bolt-ons. Just have to remap the valve and ignition timing. You say why....I say why not?!
Imagine the look on someone's face when they are actually out run by a Prius.:D

I think it's great! Another way to build street credibility by showing performance numbers, not just hearsay.

I saw so many Pri's while out driving mine today. Soon the 2010's will be everywhere too! Wooohooo!

You mean like that guy way back who wanted to know if you could drop a 2JZ into the back of the car?

This has inspired me, I want to run mine down the 1/4 mile (400 metres) at Adelaide Interrnational Raceway. What a laugh!! Had to laugh when that Honda died on the line, he must have been feeling the pressure with a Prius in the other lane!!

no i mean someone should put a powerful engine in it and go to the drag strip and smoke everyone  to do this someone has to be a very rich car guru with a lot of time to spare.. someone actually dropped a LS1 into a hatchback civic..

    Like a bolt-on supercharger?

One of my ideas for a scale model Prius was to make a funny car. Get rid of the back seats, the batteries, and stick a monster engine back there with a blower sticking out the roof.

Actually Blitz does make a supercharger for the Yaris/xA version of the 1nz, just quite expensive. I would like to just swap the 1nzfe and make it work, that's 30hp over the fxe engine.

That sounds like a lot of work for only 30 more ponies. You could always buy a new 2010, which has the same increase over the 'old' model.
