Door Lock Actuator - poor life time

    I've got a 2013 Prius V. A few years ago both the rear door lock actuators went bad and dealer replaced under warranty. Shop manager told me if not for the warranty it would have cost me $1,100! Wow.
    More recently and a couple years later the front passenger device went bad. Got a quote for $560 from my independent shop guy to replace. I got curious and went to 'the google'. Ha ha. I ordered the replacement part online for about $225, received it the next day, and after about 20 minutes the replacement was complete.
    This week one of the rear devices (replaced 2 or 3 years ago by Toyota) started acting up again. Ordered another part and replaced it yesterday. Total time was a few minutes less because I am now trained.
    According to Youtube, apparently, you can also take the actuator apart and fool around with components and probably save much more. However I wanted to make this a one and done fix so I was okay with spending the $200+.

    this has been a recurring problem for some people. must get a bad batch every so often.

    Update -
    2 rear door actuators failed and replace by dealer a couple years ago (2013 Prius V)
    I replaced front passenger actuator 2 weeks ago
    I replaced one of the previously replaced rear actuators last week.
    Today I discovered that the other rear door actuator is now failing again!
    This is more than one bad batch. I'm going to say that Toyota's new and replacement equipment is crap on this item.

    Is there a guide that you found useful for doing this repair? Or was it pretty easy to figure out?

    Hopefully this is the last update for a while. My Prius V is 2013 and I've got 140k miles.
    A few years ago Toyota replaced the 2 back door lock actuators under warranty.
    Now, in the last 2 months, I have replaced all 4 door lock actuators (including the 2 rear ones) because they were all failing.
    And one of these, the drivers door lock actuator, I replaced twice because the 2 sensors on the door handle were no longer operating the door locking. Returned it for another replacement and now it is working fine.

    brutal. do you carry a lot of passengers frequently? i could see the drivers door going out sooner

    Usually just me, rarely one other passenger, almost never anyone in back seat.
    I do use the drivers door interior rocker switch to lock the doors when I exit the car.

    We're parked in a secure garage, and after a few year I started thinking "why am I locking the car in here?", stopped doing it. Doing that, you can at least cut the lock/unlock actions in half.
