It has been a long time since I lubed the door hinges on our 2007. I have been using spray on white lithium grease for this on cars going back as long as I can remember. The last spray can I had, don't recall the brand, decided to leak all over the shelf in the garage, which was all sorts of fun to clean up. Today I finally got around to it and bought a new can, this time B'laster White Lithium Grease:

WHITE LITHIUM GREASE - B'laster Products

Tested it out on the (solid one piece) garage door hinges. Not impressed. The straw it came with will not stay inserted into the nozzle. Shoots out every time like a puny red spear. Ended up having to hold it on with one hand while depressing the nozzle with the other. Like most white lithium products it leaves a puddle of material around the point where it was applied. It is white when it goes on, but turns yellowish over time, and it attracts dirt. Difficult to see if it penetrated into the hinge, but it definitely didn't suck into the hinge like a drop of oil does on a regular door hinge.

Surely somebody must have developed a good lubricant for big metal hinges which isn't so messy. What do you folks use on the Prius door hinges?

It has become my go-to lubricant.
