All the doors on my 150k 2010 Prius are worn out. I thought my driveway was level until I tried to leave the door open then it closes on me. It's quiet infuriating. I swear they will defy gravity and close themselves. I looked online and saw doorman makes replacements for $57 a piece! And the reviews are terrible. Mentioning it didn't even fix the problem.
I can't find many threads on it. Some people have mentioned using Toyota or Honda mini vans door checks and having success. Can anyone voucher for this or provide a part number for a known working door check? (Hopefully cheaper than Doormans/OEM)

I didn't know these things would hold the doors open they just keep them from flying around and smacking into the front fender they have a detent I don't know what it is about halfway but it's not going to hold squat they just keep the door opening to whatever this is 120° I don't know and it looks like they're made to break away if they're abused the ones in my older Corolla if you abused them he would probably tear up the door frame and mess up the little pin hole which on our cars is more held on with a 10 mm bolt on some of the older cars there's a pin that you knock up and the pin tabs are welded onto the door frame

mine has two detents, half and full. they're okay, but not strong on a steep slope or high wind.

new checks should do it. or if you can find low mile salvage. mine has 86,000 miles and eleven years old, but i've never abused the doors in any way. not sure you really can for that matter.

Folks coming from a truck or a big American car can do this quite easily I I have people get in and out of mine sometime And from then on I have to open and close the door for them like a chauffeur so they don't ever touch it again they're so heavy-handed they sling the door open like they're pulling on a heavy damp door at the mall and then when the sitting in the car they pull on the thing like there's no tomorrow the whole car shakes with the door closes shoot kind of why I don't pick people up and give people rides anymore they call me I'm out on my motorcycle.

See what it'll cost you here, with shipping. Might be cheaper. These guys are very reliable, and genuine Toyota.

    Follow these links:

then load what you need in shipping cart, see what the shipping comes to. If there's Japan and UAE options, stick with one to avoid double shipping.
