Am on day 2 of Prii ownership, and I'm still trying to absorb all the features and how they work. Page 110 of the Owners Manual describes an AUTO headlight function (Position 3). My switch only has 2 positions, no position 3. No sensor appears to be installed in the dash. Is there something about HID headlights where they delete this feature? Is it possible the factory forgot to include it? Infidel
The manual is generic. In the US there is no such position, but the cars that are sold in Canada have it.
05 is the same, the auto headlight function is used in Canada but not in the U.S. We do have auto off headlights however, and you can leave the headlight switch on, turn the car off and when you open the drivers door the lights will go off. When you restart the car they go on again. Not the same thing as auto headlights but pretty handy anyway.
I don't know if this has changed in the '06, but in our '05, there is no AUTO headlight feature. From my understanding, this is because we bought the car in the US. If you buy the car in Canada (or Europe?), aparently it has that feature. You sure there's not an asterisk next to the page in the Owner's Manual that says, "Canadian Models Only"?
that said you can leave the light in the "on" position and they will shut off when you open the door to leave so it's not a huge drawback.
