I've never noticed it as a problem, but mine has aftermarket tint.

I plan on getting tint - but going to wait till gets into warmer weather.

I always us 3M Tint and I must travel about 2 hours to get it done.

I am sure that will help but this is driving me nutz for now. I have to hold my cap up to block it it is so intense.

    thanx for your response...

Why wait till it gets warmer? If you tint your windows while it’s cold the whole not rolling your windows down for a week won’t matter because it’s too cold anyway.
Tinting them when it’s cold out will have no negative effects vs waiting for it to be warmer.

    G'day,

Have you tried wearing polarised sun-glasses?

Most of the glare that annoys me is reflected sunlight off horizontal surfaces (e.g. the dash top, the road) so is polarised 'horizontally'. The vertical component of the light is sunstantially absorbed during reflection off such surfaces.
Polarised sunglasses are polarised 'vertically' so do not transmit the horizontally polarised glare.

This can be checked by rotating the glasses (held in your hand) and observing the change in reflected light transmission.

Tinting is low-tech/non-specific and could be a nuisance at night - I just take my polarised sunglasses off when driving at night. I'm assuming polarised tinted film for car windows is not available and would not be allowed on the front windscreen anyway?

If you drive with prescription glasses, a clip-on polarising filter should be available from your optician?
If you don't need or wear glasses when driving, there are plenty of basic polarised sunglasses available in stores or on-line.

The only problem (why I stopped using) is that the HUD doesn't work with them on.

Yes I do wear Polarized Rx glasses and they do he;p with most glare.
What I am referring to here is the sun actually reflecting off the High Gloss in the center of the dash - the screen and the area around it.

I am surprised nobody else is having an issue with this . . .Maybe I am just a Wimp. lol

    Thanx for response...

One of the first things I look for when perusing new car interior galleries, is the presence/absence of a "screen". The damn thing is pretty much ubiquitous now, sadly.

I live in hope it'll shift back to optional, that this is a phase. It is not mandatory to have such a screen. Still, not holding my breath: I read an article recently, saying that consumers have very little say in what goes into products.

    G'day,

If you know someone who knows how to drive a sewing machine, perhaps a made-to-fit black velvet cover for the problem area? I'm assuming it's only a square foot or so that's the problem.
Could be held in place with Velcro (sticky-backed to the dash) or even with Blu-Tac?
Velvet can be combed/brushed so, done the right way, the light is trapped in the nap. There could be another type of black fabric less reflective than black velvet, but with the angle of incidence you're dealing with, virtually everything will be a little reflective.

Black carpet would also maybe do, but could be a bit stiff to follow the profile of the dash area you have to 'fix'?

Let us know how you go with anything you try.

+1. Mine is wide when it comes from the side while the sun is low in the sky.

Because I can't stand tint (I've driven a car with gangster tint before, and hated it), I decided to cover my entire glossy part of the dash in carbon fiber wrap. Which is a LOT harder to do than you would think.

I'll post pics after the oil change is done, and soon I think I'll be doing the lower portion of the radio. I wish I knew of a way that I could do the entire radio, with cutouts for the touch buttons and the screen, but sadly I haven't figured out a way to do that.

You could buy a dash cover which covers the whole dash. You can search for them online.

Also, the navigation screen covers have to have a CD opening because they are connected with the holders going into the CD player opening. Unfortunately, I don't have a CD opening so I can get that. I have ordered a Protective Film that goes over the Navigation screen on my 2018 Prius Four which will help with the glare, fingerprint proof, and it has optical clarity. I am going to have it installed tomorrow.
