I live in Houston Texas and looking for a prius for my girl friend. I found one at a dealer up north about 1800 miles away from here. It is a franchised car dealer. I am thinking about purchasing the car and having it shipped here. It a 2010 Prius 5 with 44,000 miles on it. It has all the bells and whistles including the advanced technology package. It has a clean car fax, one owner car and I can get it for a little under 17000 dollars plus 600 to ship it to Houston. She fell in love with mine, a prius 3, and I told her about the LKA, radar cruise and she decided she wants a 5. My questions are is the price a decent price for this vehicle. It is a really nice looking one and is it a bad idea to purchase a vehicle without seeing it first in person and driving it. Has anyone in the club here bought one that way. Thanks for any advice you can share with me.
My concerns would be that a northern car might have the early stages of corrosion that a local car would not, and the risk of buying site unseen. When we purchased my wife's CPO car last fall, there were VAST differences between cars that were same age, same mileage, same price. Stuff that would not easily show up in pictures, but clearly showed which cars had lived easy or hard lives. People buy cars like this all the time, but for me I'd be really worried about being unhappy with what I ended up with.
DON'T DO IT, STOP STOP STOP. I would never buy another car without taking it for a test drive. not even a new one. I might make a deal in advance but it would be contingent upon a test drive and that my opinion
